"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" Your Nintendo Wii may be experiencing some issues if you are getting one of the above error messages: "Unable to read the disc" or "Disc could not be read" In order to get your Wii working properly, please ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. Here is an image on how to load the Nintendo Wii disc properly:

If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right. If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures (click here). If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call Nintendo Customer Support at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.
Wii Discs Eject on Their Own A known issue that can occur with the Nintendo Wii gaming console is that a disc or multiple discs may start ejecting on their own. This may happen when at the Wii menu, in a channel, r even possibly during gameplay. Usually the result is that you have to return to the main menu, restart, or power off the Wii -- losing any progress that you may have made. However, if it continues, then it may be a symptom of a larger issue. There are a number of possibilities and fixes, depending on how the error is occurring. What is the frequency / occurrence of this problem for you?
Check Nintendo's list of known Game issues, to see if the game you are playing has any known issues. Check the bottom of the Game Disc (the side without any labels or writing) for any dirt or damage (such as cracks, scratches, etc.). If the game looks significantly damaged, such as with scratches or cracks, it will need to be replaced. Please contact Nintendo for Game Disc replacement options. If the game looks dirty (fingerprints, smudges), try cleaning the Game Disc. If the problem persists, the Game Disc will need to be replaced. If the above information does not solve your problem, then the Game Disc will need to be replaced.
Wii Games Freeze while Playing This can be the most frustrating problem for us when we are playing games on our Nintendo Wii. That being said, occasional lockups with video games can happen from time-to-time and do not necessarily indicate a need for repair or replacement of your Nintendo Wii gaming system. If you are experiencing frequent lockups, or a particular game always locks up in the same area, please see the information below – as it could be a larger problem.. Most importantly, please make sure you are using only licensed accessories. Unlicensed products and accessories do not undergo Nintendo's testing and evaluation process. They may not work at all with our game systems, and they may have compatibility problems with certain games or accessories. This could be the cause of erratic or unexpected behaviors, including game lockups. If a game freezes while playing, usually the power, reset, and eject buttons will not respond. Try unplugging the AC Adapter from the back of the console, then check the air vents to make sure they're not being blocked – as that could be causing overheating. Improper ventilation may lead to locking or other severe problems with your Wii. When you unplug the system, please leave it unplugged for 60 seconds to insure a proper reset of the Wii. If the information listed above did not help, Consider is it just this game or all games?
Wii Disc Not Recognized A common problem with the Nintendo Wii is that occasionally a specific game or a set of games will come up with the error message – “Disc Not Recognized.” Usually the result is that you have to return to the main menu, restart, or power off the Wii. However, if it continues, then it may be a symptom of a larger issue. There are a number of possibilities and fixes, depending on how the error is occurring.
Check Nintendo known game issues, visually inspect for damage, scratches, dirt, cracks, burns and melting. If so replace, if dirty try cleaning.
An Error has Occurred Message A common problem with the Nintendo Wii is that occasionally a specific game or the Nintendo Wii may display the following error message – “An Error Has Occurred.” This can happen at the main menu, within Wii Channels, or even while playing a game. While occasional occurrences are not indicative of a major problem, if it starts happening more frequently, you may want to look into fixing the problem. There are a number of possibilities and fixes, depending on how often and when the error is occurring. What is the frequency / occurrence of this problem for you? See above for damage or cleaning.
